Beef prices creep up but farmers are still caught in the rat trap

Before Christmas, it was apparent that the factories weren’t quite sure how many fit cattle were in the system. Bullocks then were generally on a base of €3.50/kg, with a shake more in places as indications were that supplies were starting to tighten.
