The sleigh bells haven’t stopped ringing when the doorbells start. Canvassers, as red-nosed as Rudolf, muffled in hats, gloves, scarves and long coats, stand under the lintel asking for a ‘turn’, a ‘scratch’ or ‘the auld number wan’.
