THE 2019 farm figures from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) make for stark reading. Eighteen people were killed on Irish farms last year, all were men, and 13 were aged over 60. While these statistics got lots of media attention, it was a conversation with a farmer’s wife which really brought home to me the personal struggles behind these figures.
